A week of the red stuff

I know, I know, Valentine’s Day is a flagrant mockery of love. But, still, I adore an excuse to get all dewy and drop Shakespeare into casual conversation. In honour of the week, I wrote a 14-word verse each day.

Monday

I can love the ocean, ardently,
Without loving myself.
But loving you – that’s different.

Tuesday

Feeling
A squiffy, ecstatic, skippy, eat-me-up
Kind of love,
I just got a job.

Wednesday

A ship carrying sandy softness,
Where relating really happens,
Yesterday I sailed on friendship.

Thursday

Love in a tea bag,
Bottle or pill,
Shop-bought love,
Sealed with a till.

Friday

A dog’s love –
Unconditional,
Unrelenting.
Teach me, fluff-pup,
To love as pure as you.

Saturday

Tempting touch,
Bubbling butterflies,
Compassionate candour.
Bury me in your love,
Surprisingly sweet Valentine.

Sunday

The morning after,
My Valentine watershed,
I stay in bed until ten,
Drinking coffee.
